Rooted & Held

Nature-based healing,
guidance & care

Support held by the
branching, blooming,
deeply-rooted world

Rooted & Held
offers support for seasons of transition, grief, or uncertainty about what’s to come

In Rooted & Held, we’ll work together to uncover and remember your place
in the web of life.

With the support of the land, seasons, and natural world, you will feel yourself rooted and held by this loving world.

In Rooted & Held, we’ll draw on mycelial and cyclical wisdom. We’ll turn to the trees and plants, the winged ones and the furred ones to remember how to live and be held in relationship, always, even in the most taxing and veiled times.

The living world remembers you, and is here
to support and guide you.

Perhaps you’ve found yourself at the edge of the woods or at the mouth of a dark cave.

The path ahead is unknown,
but going back isn’t an option.

You don’t need to be fixed, but you are looking for guidance and support.

Rooted & Held is a space to root deeply into the support and care of the More-Than-Human World

Tree roots intertwine aboveground. Ferns nestle into them

How we’ll work together

I love working with people on their path to deeper self compassion and understanding.

These paths twist and turn, and we may encounter downed trees, foggy hollows, and thorny overgrowth along the way. With the land and the kind Seen and Unseen ones as our guides, you will (re)discover the love and support that waits for you.

I have experienced and witnessed the care and healing the More-Than-Human-World offers, and I’m grateful to be a guide to this support.

I offer a free, 15 minute consult to help you decide if Rooted & Held is right for you.

With intention and care,
you’ll be supported through:

  • Gentle, relational listening, intutive reflection, and guidance.

  • Nurturing your connection to the web of being for care and support. This can include cultivating your relationships with other-than-human kin such as trees and plants; with the waters, air, earth and land; and with loving ancestors, guides, and holy helpers.

  • Practices such as art, journaling, tarot and oracle cards for deeper understanding and insight.

If you’re local, most often we’ll meet outside in a local green space. Meeting virtually is also an option.

I believe that it’s in turning to our larger world, to the web that holds us and
gives us life, that we can truly be held.

The land is calling us to be rooted, and to
feel the sturdyness of the deep earth.

Past clients on their experience working together:

“I felt more grounded and supported by the world around me. Afterwards, I dove into ancestor work, which now supports me on the daily. My time in grief care not only helped me grieve the loss but also taught me ways to resource support after our time together.”

  • Former client

“"It was all so supportive. My favorite bits were our landing/grounding meditations, the tea and earth ritual held so potently, and tarot cards at the end. I've brought both tea and tarot into my life thanks to this work and I love them both! :) :) The sliding scale is incredibly generous, especially given the quality of the care, and this allowed me to get support I would not have received otherwise.”

  • Former client

Through working with Heather, I learned how my grief is a river; a portal. She taught me how to transmute numbness and despair into something more sacred and alive. Through her gifts and guidance, I was able to re-engage with, and re-imagine reverence; for nature, with ancestors living and past, for the trees, and even eventually, for my grief itself. Heather is extremely intuitive, and her wisdom makes Grief Care so expansive, revolutionary, and profound. It was a transformative time for me. I am so grateful.

  • Former client

“I feel attuned and resourced enough to attend to my grief, with ritual and with care. I can look to guidance with nature, poetry, music, or tarot. I don't feel numb anymore, I feel my grief is sacred now. It can still be painful, but its also...I understand it more as its own organism moving so closely with love as well, it has its own power. I also have such a newfound gratitude for the wind, for water, for trees, and for listening closely to the lands I'm on. And finding the languages of animism also had a profound effect on me as well. I'm very much changed from Grief Care.”

How I think about and work with
grief and other challenging seasons

Too often I’ve seen people receive the message that they or their grief, confusion, or pain is too much.

We can be seen as a problem to be solved - or turned aside and turned away.

We may even be pushed out of the circles we hold dear. People are scared, they’re unsure, they’re uncomfortable. They don’t know what to do, and they just want us to be “better.”

I’ve come to believe that “better” is too limited an aspiration.

Instead, I think transitional, challenging, and grief-filled times are experiences that can become integrated into our lives. This integration can be both supportive and deeply meaningful.

We can even, sometimes, find joy, magic, and connection inside of and alongside our most difficult seasons and experiences.

The trees that give us breath, the soil that gives us life, the beings of air and earth and water, seen and unseen - they are our family, and they want to support us. We can ask for their help, support, love, and guidance.

I am here to be that person that is not afraid, and to help you
forge, reweave and nurture your connection with your more-than-human kin.

Some other important things to know:

I have learned that our toughest emotions and experiences are thorougly entangled with who we are and the world we live in. Our experiences our own, and are deeply woven with our intersecting identities; our relationships with family and ancestors; the body we live in/are; access to financial resources; and more. In my work, I honor the tension between grief and other difficult times as universal experiences, and as a totally unique and individual at the same time.

In my work with grieving people (and in all areas of my life) I work for liberation and justice, and I welcome all of who you are.

I believe it’s also important to state my identities and some of the life experiences I bring to Rooted & Held. I am a white, cis, queer femme, woman. I am Jewish (complicatedly so, as many of us are), and also a descendant of Irish, Scottish, and German ancestors. I am a deeply grateful animist.

No matter what brings you here, you deserve care and support. If Rooted & Held is not the right fit for what you need and want, I will do my best to help you find other resources.
