Into the Wildwood
A Supportive Grief-Tending Journey
What do we do with our grief? How do we meet and tend ourselves and others through it?
Can grief be a portal to connection and care?
These are some of the essential questions of our lives.
Into the Wildwood is one response - one born of the trees, the fungi, the water and air, my listening heart.
Grief is too often ignored, rushed, feared, pushed away.
In Into the Wildwood, we’ll bring support, care, and curiousity to our grief and to our lives.
We’ll travel the underland, the wildwood -
but we won’t go alone.
We go with love and support
from the More Than Human Ones
Through writing, art, and ritual, we’ll walk together, and remember our place in the world.
Five Fridays, 10-11:30am PST,
plus an optional asynchronous nature immersion:
March 20th
March 27th
April 3rd
4/10: Optional solo/asynchronous nature immersion
April 17th
April 24th
10% of proceeds will go to the Portland Grief House!
Into the Wildwood is a space for you and your grief to be seen, held, and tended.
Over five virtual sessions (with an optional out-of-synchronous time nature immersion), we’ll create connections and care as human community.
We’ll remember/re-weave our connection with the More Than Human ones.
We’ll go together, and find support along the way from ancestors, plant, animal, and fungus kin, and from the elements.
-
We meet at the portal, the threshold, the trailhead. We’ll provision ourselves for the journey ahead through practices that support your body, heart, and spirit. Most importantly, you’ll discover an ally from the More Than Human World who is ready to support and guide you along the way.
-
We’ll move forward on the twisting path into the Wildwood. Somatic, relational, magical, and body-based practices will support us as we find our way (and, when necessary, step off the path).
-
In this session, we’ll find a sheltered nook in the forest of our grief. A space to be held and protected as you bring presence to your experience. This is the centerpoint of Into the Wildwood, a time to root into the deep care of the More Than Human World.
-
This week, we won’t meet together. Instead, I’ll email suggestions for your own time in and with a forest (park, backyard…) near you.
-
After our time in the forest (literally and figuratively), we begin our return. What will you bring with you out of the forest? What will you leave to be composted, digested, returned to the Earth?
-
We return to the portal, the threshold, the trailhead. In this final session, we integrate the experiences of Into the Wildwood. We’ll consider lessons learned, questions asked (perhaps answered or newly sprouted). We’ll gently consider intentions and possibilities for what will be carried forward into tomorrow, and the days to come.
Into the Wildwood is for you if:
You are grieving, and need more support than the other humans in your life are able to offer
Are feeling a call to tend your grief, but know that you can’t do this alone
Believe (or wonder or wish) that our relationships with the More Than Human World can be mutually supportive, full of love (even magic)
You desire community (human and Other Than) that can walk with you in your grief - humans and Others that can witness you in your grief, while you witness theirs
Some questions you may have:
Is my grief welcome? All grief is welcome in this Wildwood. Whether you are grieving a death; the loss of a relationship; the state and health of the world, or/and anything else, you and your grief are welcome here.
It’s challenging for me to get to a forest (or any outdoor space). Can I still join? Access to outdoor spaces is different for everyone, and often connects to our identities. You are welcome to this Wildwood, from wherever you are. There is no expectation or pressure to do any of these practices outside. They can all be done from inside your own heart and mind.
I hold often targeted identities. How will you create a safer space?I am fiercely, lovingly committed to creating spaces that are welcoming for and center Black, Brown, Indigenous people, and all people of the Global Majority. I hold this commitment, too, for all that are too often harmed by systems of domination, such as Queer, Trans, and Gender expansive folks, Disabled people, and people living with poverty, and know that all of these identities often intersect. My spiritual beliefs facilitation are rooted in my values of justice and liberation for all beings. I have decades of experience holding space, and embodying these commitments.
I want to join but can’t pay full price. I’m not sure though that it’s okay to use the sliding scale - should I save that for others? If you want to be here, the trees and I want you to be here. Please use the sliding scale without hesitation (found at the top of this page).
I have another question that you haven’t addressed here. What should I do? Please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions at hello@rosecedarforest.com.
